Albany, New York-based Soluna Holdings is at the forefront of developing green data centers. They’re in the planning stages on Project Ellen, an environmental cutting-edge green data center in South Texas. Ellen’s Project Ellen celebrates Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman in space. It will be sited next to a new 145 MW wind farm. The project’s goal is to use long-form wind energy to fund the development of green computing applications, starting with Bitcoin mining and AI.

Project Ellen, which is being co-developed by both groups, will likely come online in two 50 MW phases. The project expects to have more than 698 MW of data center capacity operating, under construction, or in development in the pipeline.

"With Project Ellen, we continue to prove that computing can be a powerful driver for renewable energy adoption." - John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna Holdings

The next step for the development will be executing firm power purchase agreements and land arrangements for the project footprint. Continued planning with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which operates the state's electrical grid, will be a key part of the project.

"This expansion in Texas reinforces our commitment to solving the challenge of underutilized green power while providing the infrastructure needed for the future of Bitcoin and AI." - John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna Holdings

Project Ellen is another exciting step towards fulfilling Soluna Holdings’ mission to accelerate the world’s adoption of renewable energy. And by co-locating its data center with a wind farm, Soluna wants to power sustainable computing at scale.
