Institutional Interest in Ethereum Staking Grows Despite Ether Price Decline

With Ether price down against BTC and other digital assets this year, institutional interest in Ethereum staking is still on the rise. Creation of liquid staking solutions such as Lido are fueling this growing demand. These purpose-built solutions are built from the ground up to easily satisfy rigid regulatory compliance.
Since the rollout of Lido v3, Lido’s push to attract institutional adoption has ramped up. This updated edition features modular smart contracts that are tailored since inception for regulatory compliance. By overcoming this challenge, it provides unprecedented staking access for institutional asset managers and family offices.
Kean Gilbert said the maturity of institutions’ digital asset strategies is undeniable.
"Many asset managers, custodians, family offices, and crypto-native investment firms are actively exploring staking strategies." - Kean Gilbert
Gilbert agrees that custody solutions are crucial for institutions who are used to working in very regulated compliance, risk management silos. New Komainu, the regulated digital asset custody provider, announced on May 27th that it now supports custody for Lido Staked ETH (stETH).
Lido staked ETH (stETH) is by far the largest Ethereum staking token, making up 27% of all staked Ether. Lido v3 Implementation of Lido v3 heralds new opportunities for institutional investors across jurisdictions such as Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Jersey. It provides a more compliant path for them to get Ethereum staking yields.
Meanwhile, Ether (ETH) has lagged behind Bitcoin and other digital assets during 2024. The price of Ether (ETH) is currently at -24% year-to-date and -36% six-months.
