Utilizing Ethereum’s precedent for environmental sustainability, BTCS has now fully realized Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade, which went into effect on May 7th, 2025. The upgrade provides BTCS an opportunity to lower operational costs, add new payment options and take advantage of the Ethereum network’s expansion. This Pectra upgrade includes several notable improvements, such as higher validator stake limits and enhanced wallet features.

The Pectra upgrade introduces a highly anticipated feature called Scaling Validator Staking. With this improvement, the maximum effective stake per validator shoots up from 32 ETH to a whopping 2,048 ETH! This upgrade allows for BTCS to further centralize validator nodes, continue streamlining operations and reduce infrastructure complexity. The newly increased stake limit amount provides immediate savings profitably to BTCS’ operational expenses without any impact to its revenue channels.

Additionally, the Pectra upgrade adds new wallet capabilities, allowing buyers to pay with any stablecoin they choose. This functionality affords automated and recurring transaction capabilities, as well as simplified wallet recovery mechanisms.

"Pectra is a technical milestone that demonstrates Ethereum's commitment to improving scalability and usability for both validators and users," - Charles Allen, CEO of BTCS.

Additionally, BTCS is introducing a new Staker Protection Plan (SPP), in collaboration with Figment, BTCS’ staking infrastructure provider, and WonderFi Technologies. Ultimately the SPP is focused on increasing participation in transactions, increasing staking efficiency, and providing support navigating regulatory landscapes. Throughout this collaboration, the BTCS team has shown their dedication to offering best-in-class, secure multi-chain staking services.

This Pectra upgrade implementation is seen by BTCS as yet another tangible milestone in Ethereum’s ongoing transition and metamorphosis. BTCS is methodically building blockchain operations and infrastructure outside of Ethereum. Overall, the move places the company in a strong position to benefit from overall network expansion and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the upgrade.
